As the son of an Indonesian immigrant, Ryan Reichenfeld was the first of his father’s family to be born in the USA and the first of anyone in his family to graduate college. He left home at 15 to become a professional skateboarder – a bold move that’s indicative of his tone as a director. His innate understanding of action, movement, and camera choreography is at the heart of his approach.
Ryan cut his teeth as an Offline Editor and VFX Artist+Supervisor, collaborating directly with filmmakers like Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry, The Daniels, Hiro Murai, David Gelb, Nabil, Warren Fu, and Alma Har’el.
He rose as a director in the music video world, writing and directing music videos for Justin Timberlake, Imagine Dragons, Steve Martin (yes the commedian), Pusha-T, Sam Hunt, Steve Aoki, Lil Jon, and grammy winning artist RAC amongst others.
In the advertising space, he’s become known for combining creative camera moves/technical VFX processes alongside authentic narratives. His straightforward way of empathizing with characters enables him to create films that celebrate everyday human stories on a cinematic scale.
