Matthieu was raised in Stuttgart, Germany where his parents moved when he was five years old. After studying at the University of Film industry in Paris, he started making his living as a photographer, AD, artistic coordinator and music researcher on various commercials and music videos for different production companies in Paris. In 2002 he made it to Prague, working as set photographer and AD, but mainly focusing on realizing personal projects. Having completed his first short film, “Panorama”, which Matthieu produced, shot, and edited by himself, he decided it was time to push it forward with commercial and music video directing. His third advertising project, a spot for the Fresh Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, was selected in the New Director’s section of Shots (#98). In 2008, Matthieu decided to move back to France, where he started working on the French market, with well known production companies, such as Quad, Première Heure, Hamster Pub. Matthieu shot an interactive internet-campaign for Extreme (Nestle), which turned out to be very successful, and positioned him as an appreciated viral director in Paris and London. Since then, he has direct viral campaigns for prestigious brands such as Contrex (Nestlé Waters), Renault, Samsung, T-Mobile to name few. But also very nice image campaigns for international brands, such as Adidas, GE Money Bank, Gillette... Parallel to advertising, Matthieu is working hard on fictional projects. Amongst them, a collective feature film taking place in Marseille, co-directed by 5 directors from the Mediterranean coast (each directing a segment). His first feature movie, ‘The Puritans’, has already retain the attention from film funding organizations, and should go in pre-production soon. Matthieu, speaking French, English, German, Italian, and some Czech, is a truly multicultural talent with an eye for French aesthetics and lightness.
